Raster images or raster graphics are the most common type of image found on digital devices. The overwhelming majority of images found on most computers and the internet are raster images. These images are made up of thousands of pixels in a grid format otherwise known as a bitmap. JPEG, PNG, and GIF are some of the most popular raster image formats. Since raster images are made up of pixels, as the image is enlarged, the image will become pixelated. To resolve these issues, vector images, or vector graphics are sometimes used by designers or digital illustrators to represent designs, since vector graphics are made up of points, mathematically calculated lines and curves that are plotted onto a coordinate system making them infinitely scalable, instead of pixels that are used in raster images.
