Usually, hidden files, such as the .htaccess file, are hidden by default. cPanel does not show hidden files by default. This guide will show you how to change the settings on the cPanel file manager.
Note: Most if not all other hosting control panels already show hidden files. This guide only applies to users who are using cPanel.
Step 1: Open your cPanel file manager.
Step 2: Click on the settings button in the upper right corner.
Step 3: On the settings menu, there should be a checkbox that has the option to “Show Hidden Files (dotfiles).” Check that option.
Step 4: Click the Save button to save the changes.
