AirPlay is a proprietary wireless audio/video streaming protocol created by Apple for use in it’s devices. AirPlay was originally named AirTunes when it could only stream audio. Since then, AirPlay has been integrated into almost all of Apple’s devices and has also been incorporated in third party docks, speakers, TVs, etc.

AirPlay lets you share videos, photos, music, and more from Apple devices to your Apple TV, favorite speakers, and popular smart TVs.
